Miss Teen Worcester

31 Oct

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2010 Miss Teen Worcester Pageant! What a fantastic show!

It looks like our wonderful contestants really made an impact this weekend. The following are words straight from your tabulator, Jeremy. Keep up the great work, ladies!

“Whenever you turn on your television or power up your computer there is always news of gloom and doom. There is so much focus on negative events happening in our society, most of which involving our younger generations. There is a true fear that our country and our world are headed towards a terrible future. From my experience with this pageant, I believe nothing could be further from the truth. Each weekend, I encounter hope for our future in many of the contestants. Contestants have many high aspirations, lots of joy and energy, and a heart full of compassion. I believe that our future is truly going to be in great hands if any of these young ladies have anything to do with it.

This weekend was no exception, and in fact I think it was a shining example. It all started with friendships being formed while the contestants waited for their personal interviews. It didn’t seem like differences in age even mattered to the contestants. Several times I saw teenage contestants preparing younger ladies for their interviews and even helping them overcome nervousness. Instead of focusing themselves on their own interviews, these contestants put others first showing a lot of compassion and concern.

We saw it again in rehearsal. Contestants were constantly cheering on and supporting each other while on the stage together. Once rehearsal was over, I saw many contestants helping each other with their modeling routines so that each of them could feel comfortable during the show.

I believe many of these examples happen backstage where the audience can’t see it, but you do see some of it onstage as well. The confidence and composure exhibited by such a high percentage of contestants was indeed impressive. Many during formal wear were able to articulate their dreams very accurately, proving wrong all those saying verbal communication is a dying art form. The determination the contestants displayed in overcoming the challenges in life still to come is truly inspiring and very hopeful for our future.”
